Over the past two decades or so, custom tuning of high-end cars has overtaken the mechanic industry. Car Mods are everywhere! Heck, you need to push the envelope for that macho car to be speedier, look faster and deliver unmatched torque. That in itself isn’t surprising – upgraded cars have always been crowd pullers.

All the same, if you want to look, and actually feel cooler in your lavish car, those cheap tune-ups are not going to cut it. You need a complete overhaul and remodeling of certain parts to get the most out your machine. High-grade custom paint has always been some sort of Holy Grail when it comes to upgrading your car. Think about it; wouldn’t you go for a kick-ass outfit if you wanted to look cool? An expert can tell you a good paint job cost over $4000, but you can a get it done for less if you look at the right places. The trick is to select a shade that is seldom donned by stock cars. Perhaps blood-red or trendy racing stripe will fit the bill. Vinyl wrap, for one, is going to save you tons of money, and it also looks great if you decide to hop onto matte paint bandwagon. Whatever shade you go for, don’t wrap your car in velvet!

Also called ECU Tuning, this upgrade is perhaps the easiest and the cheapest way to churn more power out of your car’s engine. For cars with factory turbo engines, this is a slice of heaven. There is a pitfall here, though. If you don’t go with a bespoke expert, you’re poised to return to a messed up engine. Extreme care is called for since ECU tuning is nothing more than a software upgrade. Don’t rev your limiter unnecessarily too high. If done right, chip tuning is an ultimate upgrade.

I am going to say it outright: “pimping” isn’t for the wheels. If you were a fan of Pimp My Ride, then you know what the fuss is all about. Go for a nice set of wheels from a reliable maker. Nonetheless, your choice should be capable of handling not only the cars weight but also tweaked speed and performance. In all, don’t compromise on quality if you’re looking to bling your wheels.

There is nothing cool about a cheap set of bulbs. For the price tag, go for high-end headlights. They not only make your car appear more “it” but are also excellent for improved visibility. Needless to say, a shoddy tuner might ruin your headlights.

Good breaks are indispensable to your car’s performance. Ask any pro racer and they will tell you that breaks separate the boys from men. Perhaps carbon/ceramic brake pads will handle increased engine performance.
