If you own a dirt bike, you know it isn’t always very affordable to do a dirt bike upgrade and customize it to your tastes. Affordable car projects and dirt bike projects are hard to find, especially ones that actually are going to be what you’re looking for. You don’t want to just stick some duct tape on it and call it yours, so how can you spruce it up without breaking the bank? 1. The quickest way to improve your dirt bike’s performance is to upgrade the gas it runs off of. Go ahead and spend a few extra dollars to get a higher octane gas when you fill it up and you’ll notice a difference in the way it run. You might also want to avoid using ethanol-based fuel since it won’t give you any real benefits.

2. Make sure to keep your suspension clickers adjusted. This will help keep you from getting as tired while riding and will be able to keep your performance up as well to be able to match your bike. No matter how great your bike is, the rider’s performance can make it seem like a pile of junk if they get too tired and sore.

3. If your bike is a few years old or you have to fight just be able to stay on top of it, get a new seat cover. Pleated or gripper seat covers will help you keep your butt on your bike and give you a confidence boost knowing you aren’t going to fall off on a turn.

4. Keep an eye on your grips. If they’re starting to look ragged and beaten down, get some new ones. New grips are pretty cheap too, you can find them for around $10 and once they’re on, your bike will feel like new again.

5. If you haven’t changed your spark plug in a while, you probably should. Not changing the spark plug is one of the most common maintenance mistakes a dirt bike owner can make. If you want better performance, keep your spark plug new and you’ll see how much of a difference it will make.

6. Another mistake many dirt bike owners make is not replacing their old foot pegs. To have the proper body position, you need to keep your feet anchored, which is quite difficult without good foot pegs.
